Marking Earth Day Through Creative Workshops and Socializing

23. Apr 2026.

On the occasion of Earth Day, the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization organized two art workshops for children from the substandard settlements of Bangladeš and Adice.

The workshops were led by an artist experienced in working with children, with the support of four peer educators. In Bangladeš, 10 children participated in the workshop, with the theme “The Four Seasons,” allowing each child to choose and illustrate a season of their preference. In Adice, the workshop gathered 15 children, and the theme was “Planet Earth.”

During the workshops, the children used acrylic paints and had the freedom to express their creativity through drawing, while also socializing and connecting with one another in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Marking Earth Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection and to encourage the wider community to take an active role in preserving it.

These activities were implemented within the program “Support to Children in Substandard Settlements through Psychological, Health, and Creative Workshops,” carried out by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization with financial support from the City of Novi Sad and H. Stepic CEE Charity from Vienna, as well as thanks to donations from citizens.

Children growing up in substandard settlements often face poverty, inadequate housing and health conditions, as well as limited access to educational and counseling services. As a result, they are at an increased risk of social exclusion, emotional difficulties, and developmental challenges. Activities like these contribute to building trust with children and their families, as well as strengthening their developmental capacities through continuous support.
