Representatives of the City of Novi Sad Visit EHO Center: Towards the Development of a Sustainable Social Enterprise
29. Apr 2026.
To support the development of a sustainable social enterprise that combines environmental protection and social inclusion, Representatives of the City of Novi Sad visited the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO).
The focus of the discussion was on the development plan of EHO workshops, with the three clear goals: textile recycling, employment of people from socially vulnerable groups, and generating income for the further sustainability of the program through laundry services and the sale of recycled products.
During a tour of the tailoring workshop and textile warehouse, which the citizens of Novi Sad replenish daily with their donations, we presented how discarded material is transformed into new value. The visiting members of the City Council for Environmental and Social Protection, together with the heads of the relevant departments, expressed their willingness to support this initiative that views textile waste as a development opportunity, not a burden.
This meeting confirms the importance of cooperation between the civil sector and local government in creating a system that cares for both nature and people. Concrete activities on the development of this ecological-social initiative are expected as of the next month.
