International Family Day Celebrated at the Bujanovac Reception Center

29. May 2026.

As part of the project "Inclusive Support for Refugees in Southern Serbia", which is being implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO) with the support of UMCOR, the Bujanovac Reception Center celebrated May 15th - International Family Day.

Through a creative art-occupational workshop called "Family is My Home", children and adults accommodated in the center had the opportunity to express their feelings through art, strengthen family ties and create a space filled with warmth and togetherness for a moment.

The main focus of the workshop was on creating a shared visual board. Participants drew their families in moments of happiness, and their works were then symbolically placed in colorful models of houses hung around the central message "Family". This process conveyed the message in a picturesque way that home is made up of people, love and mutual support, regardless of the geographical location in which we currently find ourselves.

Art-occupational activities within our advocacy and psychosocial work are proving to be an invaluable tool for the inclusion and stabilization of the mental health of vulnerable groups. The display board in the common areas of the center remains a reminder of the power of togetherness and the importance of preserving family values at every step of their journey.

The Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization continues to provide continuous and comprehensive support to beneficiaries in reception centers in southern Serbia through project activities.
