EHO's department Ecumenical women's work to organize 2020 World Day of Prayer event in Serbia
26. Feb 2020.
This year's liturgy of the World Day of Prayer comes from Zimbabwe and invites us to all pray on Friday, March 6, for the problems and difficulties faced by women in this South African country. This country has been shaken by political unrest, tension and poverty in recent years. In communion and ecumenical prayer, women around the world find encouragement and support in their faith. The theme of this year's prayer is based on the verse from the Gospel of John, chapter 5, verse 8: "Arise, take up your bed and walk."
Together with the women of Zimbabwe, we also recognize that we need and want change, that we desperately need healing of body, soul or spirit. We have countless excuses and justifications to avoid change. Let's listen to Jesus' suggestion, more precisely the commandment expressed in three verbs: get up, take and walk. Jesus, for his part, enables us to experience God's great love, mercy, and healing, and gives us the strength to fulfill this command. We should never be afraid to act on the Word of God.
WDP women from Novi Sad cordially invite you to come to the Greek Catholic Church, 44 Svetozara Miletića Street, on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 5 pm, and join us to support women from Zimbabwe together and encourage each other.
