Certification - a gateway toward quality, professional, safe and targeted development & aid
23. Jul 2020.
In the project led by our Italian partner ASPEm, financed from EU funds, within the EU Aid Volunteering program, last week we completed the training phase, which prepares our partners from 7 non EU for the arrival of volunteer experts. Adra Slovensko, as the only certified organization in Slovakia within the EUAV initiative, is currently helping the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, Merhamet Sandžak and Philanthropy to become part of it.
In particular, the trainings covered the following topics:
- Security and protection: Did you know that statistically most deaths of humanitarian workers are not caused by exotic diseases or war attacks, but by traffic accidents? Certified organizations must thoroughly analyze all risks and prepare measures to prevent them.
- Volunteer management and volunteering logistics: From many years of experience with sending volunteers, we know that the key is to improve mutual cooperation, for example. the humanitarian mission did not fail due to interpersonal misunderstandings. That is, preventable causes.
- Related to this is the topic of NEEDS ANALYSIS: Visiting organizations must go through self-reflection, know how to name their weaknesses in fulfilling their humanitarian missions. The conflict of expectations of organizations as well as volunteers with reality must have a moment of unification.
An important part of the cooperation is the mutual sharing of experience in these areas. Our partners Ara Slovensko, Merhamet Sandžak, Čovekoljublje - Philanthropy have been working in the field of humanitarian work for years, which is a very enriching element of this project. All three work with a wide range of vulnerable groups, such as the war-affected population and IDPs, the elderly, Roma communities, former prisoners and victims of violence.
We believe that, just as through the global Adra network, thanks to the partnership with Adra Serbia, we can help in the current difficult situation with the coronavirus pandemic in Serbia, that we will be able to make joint efforts through the newly formed partnership with expert EUAV volunteering and Merhamet Sandžak and Humanitarianism.
