Learning Serbian language and mathematics in Reception center Šid
27. Aug 2020.
Considering that the children dwelling in the Reception center Šid did not attend school for a long time due to the COVID 19 pandemic, but also the fact that it was summer vacation, most of them express a desire to renew the acquired knowledge and learn something new.
As always, listening to children's wishes and interests, our associates in the field organized exercises in mathematics and the Serbian language. The exercises were organized in accordance with the age of the users and the existing level of their knowledge. During the work, with the help of various techniques and materials, they tried to remove all ambiguities when it comes to mathematics. Various educational and didactic material was very useful and helpful to them, which was provided within the project which is being realized in cooperation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
From the Serbian language, the children were most interested in learning the concepts that surround them and which they need most for everyday life and understanding. Colors, numbers and different types of food have been successfully mastered in Serbian, English, Arabic and Persian, and further learning continues, as before, in a cheerful mood and pleasant environment.
Intensive learning of Serbian and English is planned for further work, at the initiative of teenagers who are in the reception center.
Most of the activities are still carried out preventively in the open air, using nice weather but also children's interest in working and learning outside the corner.
