A sketchbook from the project-life: suport to education of children
28. Oct 2020.
Laura (changed name) is a seventh grade pupil who entered the support program two years ago. She was then a withdrawn child who seldom communicated with classmates and her teachers. Underwent proffesional individual work and psychological workshops, Laura began to show signs of greater self-confidence and better social communication: today she participates more actively in classes, has greater security during oral examinations, and her circle of friends has visibly increased.
Duško (changed name) comes from a family with a difficult financial situation. He receives support for the third consecutive year in a row. Free meals and support in the purchase of textbooks and school supplies are especially important because those items are a significant financial burden for his family. Duško enrolled in the first year of high school, during which we will continue to support him.
Laura and Duško are two of some 190 students who participate in the project "Support to the education of socially deprived children and youth in Serbia". This project is being implemented by the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization for the fourth year in 9 local communities throughout Serbia. Organizing additional classes and workshops, procuring school materials, covering food and travel expenses, among other things, aim to help improve opportunities and success in the education of children and youth from socially disadvantaged families and others from particularly vulnerable categories. The project is being implemented with the financial support of the organization Brot für die Welt from Germany.
