EHO presented own work in the Eurodiaconia 2020 Online Roma Network Meeting
28. Oct 2020.
Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization (EHO) is a long-standing standing leader in various fields of support to the Roma national community in Serbia. We endeavour to expand our growing experience, expertise and knowledge to other countries, both in the region and in the international community through participation in networks in forums. The Roma Network of the Eurodiaconia is a hub for the exchange of know-how between organizations involved in programs and support to vulnerable groups, particularly to Roma men and women throughout Europe.
At the 2020 annual meeting of the members of this network held 27/ October 2020, shared were news and initiatives related to the processes of defining new strategic frameworks that encourage the inclusion of this national community at the EU level, and presented were of good practice examples in the work with Roma in 4 countries (Finland, Romania, Serbia and Germany). Thus, EHO gave a special presentation of its work with Roma with special reference to the challenges faced by Roma women during the corona virus pandemic.
This online event was a place for a very lively discussion about challenges faced by network members in their work in respective local communities. One of conclusions is that there remains an ongoing need for greater networking and transfer of knowledge and experience on international level, in order to make an adequate response to increasingly challenging changes in environment and context.
