THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS to the Public Invitation for construction assistance to returnees and other vulnerable groups, published on February 2, 2021, is EXTENDED. All interested parties, primarily returnees from Germany and other Western European countries, from the territory of Sremska Mitrovica, Ruma and Pećinci, who meet the required conditions (see the public invitation in the attachment) are invited to apply for construction support until March 8, 2021. Applications should be sent by mail - by sending the required documents (photocopies only) to the specified address of the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization or handed in personally to field associates Maja Vukotić 062 8216296 and Sonja Krnajski 069 707461.

This construction assistance is one of the types of support within the project "ASSISTANCE FOR A NEW START" and aims to improve housing conditions in 25 family housing facilities in which families live and which are owned by them.

Priority is given to vulnerable returnee families, but up to 20% of the supported may be non-returnees from marginalized groups living in similar conditions.

Assistance is given primarily to families who do not have a bathroom or it is in a very bad condition (in order to provide them with a minimum of hygiene), or have some other major deficiencies in the facility that endanger their housing.

The support includes both the construction material for the execution of works, which the families perform themselves, as well as professional support from EHO engineers in the planning and execution of construction works. Only installation works on the bathroom and installation of tiles are performed by authorized contractors hired and paid for by EHO.

This service we provide is supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the Migration for Development (PME) Programme. The programme is part of the global initiative "Returning to New Opportunities" of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
