Prevention to early detection of malignant diseases in women from marginalized groups in Vojvodina
27. Feb 2021.
The project entitled "Prevention to early detection of malignant diseases in women from marginalized groups in Vojvodina" is a project that deals with women's health and their psycho-social well-being. It was approved last year and will last for 3 years. The donor is ELCA - Evangelical Church of America.
The goal of the project is to improve the psychosocial and health position of rural women by raising awareness of the importance of prevention, early detection of cancer and the need for timely treatment. Emphasis will be placed on preventive work with women who live in rural areas and for whom health care is more difficult to access, and awareness of prevention is less developed.
The basic idea of this project is to organize 40 health workshops (2 per settlement per year) for about 400 women (up to 20 women per workshop) in 20 rural settlements in Vojvodina over the course of three years, with the aim of informing them about the most common diseases, women's rights. to preventive examinations, competent health institutions, healthy lifestyle, etc. Also, motivational workshops will be organized to which we will invite women who have overcome cancer and who are considered cured, as a good example that cancer is both curable and curable. Special attention will be paid to women-informal carers, who care for the elderly and the sick and who need additional psychosocial support and counseling.
The health workshops will be led by a doctor, a project associate, in cooperation with our local coordinators in rural areas.
