World Day of Prayer lithurgy for 2021 held in EHO
09. Mar 2021.
The ecumenical liturgy of the World Day of Prayer for 2021 was held in the Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization. The ongoing pandemic prevented us from our usual celebrating in one of the churches in Novi Sad in past years. World Day of Prayer is always held on the first Friday in March, and for this year the liturgy was written by women from the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu on the theme: "Build on a solid foundation" (based on the Gospel of Matthew 7: 24-27).
In Novi Sad, this worship service is always of an ecumenical character where women from 5 churches participate. And last Friday, March 5, 2021, women from the Roman Catholic, Slovak Evangelical a.v. churches, Christian Reformed Churches in Serbia, Evangelical Methodist and Greek Catholic Churches prayed together for the problems that plague the inhabitants of this distant country. This unknown and distant country was brought closer to us by a picturesque altar, which symbolized the life and characteristics of Vanuatu. United in Spirit and prayer with all the women of the world, who held this Worship, we sent a message of peace, prosperity and, above all, health for all people.
This year, the World Day of Prayer in Vojvodina celebrates 70 years since our predecessors first heard about this ecumenical women's movement in Novi Sad back in 1951 and hosted representatives of the World Day of Prayer from the United States.
