World family day celebrated in Reception centers in Šid and Sombor
17. May 2021.
In the reception centers Šid and Sombor, on May 15, the World Family Day was marked through the workshops My Family. The activities were primarily intended for children, and then included other members of their families. The aim of the workshops was to strengthen family ties. The workshops consisted of two parts, educational and creative. In the first part of the workshop, the educators engaged in the project discussed the importance of the family and its functions. Then, the children stated that on their way to Europe, they additionally connected and strengthened relations with their family members, because they were mostly focused on each other. For them, family is the security and cradle of their lives in these volatile times, and they are grateful that they have time to rely on. In the creative part, the children painted family portraits together with their parents.
This activity is part of the project Empowerment of Refugee Women and Children, which EHO is implementing with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA).
