On the occasion of the 20 June, World Refugee Day, associates at the Reception Center Šid organized a workshop with children. In spite of the well-known concept of refugees and the associated kind of life, our associates used this occasion to organize joint gatherings with children to strengthen mutual ties. During the workshop, they discussed the topic of migration. Our beneficiaries come from different countries, and everyone got the opportunity to present their country, its features and shared their memories from their homeland. Also using the globe, the children jointly searched for their countries of origin, then their current place of residence, including the desired final destination. They completed the workshop with a common mural, and with a common picture as a reminder of this part of their trip.

There are currently 132 people in the Reception Center Šid, of which 51 are children. The project “Empowerment of Women and Refugee Children” is being implemented by the EHO with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA)
